CALIFORNIA'S LEGISTATIVE CALENDAR

The calendar provides important deadlines for the California Legislature.


2007
  • February 23 – Last day for bills to be introduced.
  • April 27 – Last day for policy committees to hear and report to fiscal committees fiscal bills introduced in their house.
  • May 11 – Last day for policy committees to hear and report to the floor non-fiscal bills introduced in their house.
  • May 25 – Last day for policy committees to meet prior to June 11.
  • June 1 – Last day for fiscal committees to hear and report to the floor bills introduced in their house.
  • June 1 – Last day for fiscal committees to meet prior to June 11.
  • June 4-8 – Floor session only – no committee may meet for any purpose.
  • June 8 – Last day for each house to pass bills introduced in that house.
  • June 11 – Committee meetings may resume.
  • July 13 – Last day for policy committees to meet and report bills.
  • August 31 – Last day for fiscal committees to meet and report bills.
  • September 3-14 – Floor session only – no committee may meet for any purpose.
  • September 7 – Last day to amend on the floor.
  • September 14 – Last day for each house to pass bills.
  • October 14 – Last day for Governor to sign or veto bills passed by the Legislature on or before September 14 and in the Governor’s possession after September 14.

    2008
  • January 7 – Legislature reconvenes.
