Employers Direct to Serve on WCIRB’s Classification & Rating Committee

Agoura Hills, CA – April 5, 2007 – Employers Direct Insurance Company, California’s
only specialty direct writer of workers’ compensation insurance, was nominated and
appointed to serve a three-year term on the Classification & Rating Committee of the
Workers’ Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau (WCIRB), with the following
announcement:

“The Nominating Committee recently met to consider the slate of candidates to be
recommended to the membership to fill the two Classification and Rating Committee
positions whose terms will expire as of the WCIRB’s 2007 Annual Meeting. The two
expiring positions are currently held by Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and Zenith
Insurance Company. The Nominating Committee was pleased with the large number of
qualified candidates that were submitted for consideration. The Nominating Committee,
after considering the breadth of representatives on the Classification and Rating
Committee (size of companies, market shares, types of organizations, marketing methods,
and regional and national interest), selected the following companies to serve on the
Classification and Rating Committee. These companies will be nominated at the
WCIRB’s 2007 Annual Meeting (March 29, 2007) to serve three-year terms which will
expire as of the WCIRB’s 2010 Annual Meeting: Employers Direct Insurance Company
and Liberty Mutual Insurance Company.”

Karen Sterner, Vice President of Underwriting and Premium Audit is representing
Employers Direct Insurance Company on the WCIRB’s Classification & Rating
Committee.

The Classification and Rating Committee's responsibilities include  reviewing proposed
changes to the Insurance Commissioner's workers' compensation insurance regulations,
WCIRB advisory plans, policy forms, and administrative matters of a technical nature.
The Classification and Rating Committee is comprised of six private insurers, elected by
the membership, and State Compensation Insurance Fund. The Insurance Commissioner,
or his designated representative, is entitled to attend all meetings.
