Employers Direct to Serve on Governing Committee of Workers' Comp Bureau

Agoura Hills, CA - April 8, 2008 - Employers Direct Insurance Company, California's only specialty direct writer of workers' compensation insurance, was nominated and appointed to serve a three-year term on the Governing Committee of the Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau (WCIRB). James E. Little, Chairman/President and CEO of Employers Direct, will represent the company on the WCIRB's Governing Committee. .

The Governing Committee sets policy and oversees management of the affairs of the WCIRB, including the actions of all other committees. It is comprised of 12 members that include 7 private insurers, the State Compensation Insurance Fund, and four public members - two represent insured employers and two represent organized labor. Except for the State Compensation Insurance Fund, insurer members are elected for two-year terms by the membership at the Annual Meeting, while public members are appointed for two-year terms by the Insurance Commissioner. By statute, the State Compensation Insurance Fund is a permanent member of the Governing Committee. The Insurance Commissioner, or his designated representative, is entitled to attend all meetings of the Governing Committee.
